Mikhail Murashko: Scientific cooperation between countries is effective and gives practical results to increase people's life expectancy

Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko told about the results of the Russian Health Ministry's chairmanship in the CIS Health Cooperation Council.

In 2024 Russia chairs the Commonwealth of Independent States, co-chaired by the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan.

Joint activities are important for strengthening cooperation in the field of:

• Medical education and science, practical implementation of the plan of the Council's main activities. This year, the Council held more than 150 events on the most pressing issues of health protection.
• Updating the CIS regulatory framework in the field of healthcare. The draft Concept of Cooperation between the States has been significantly supplemented with new principles and objectives aimed at: • Public health preservation and promotion;
  • Population’s healthy lifestyle promotion;
  • Ensuring organization and provision of medical care using telemedicine technologies;
  • Development of information technologies in healthcare;
  • Development of cooperation to counter chemical and biological threats in the CIS.
  

In addition, the updated draft Concept will facilitate the activities of the CIS designated organizations and establishment of new designated organizations in the field of healthcare.

Designated organizations unite and coordinate experts’ work in various healthcare aspects.

• For example, Russian Research Institute of Health makes a great contribution to uniting the efforts of the Commonwealth countries.

Digital Transformation facilitates the process of providing medical care at all stages of a person's life, — said the Minister.

• National Medical Research Radiological Center of the Ministry of Health of Russia is the leading institution in the field of radiology in Russia.

Considering the active development of nuclear medicine methods, it is proposed to expand the competence of the organization in this area.

• National Medical Research Center of Psychiatry and Narcology named after V.P. Serbsky of the Ministry of Health of Russia pays attention to mental and social-psychological consequences prevention in emergencies, exchange of experience, monitoring, analysis and forecasting of adverse social-psychological situation in the emergency zone.

New Designated Organizations:

• In the field of therapy and preventive medicine – National Medical Research Center for Therapy and Preventive Medicine of the Ministry of Health of Russia.
• In the field of organization and provision of medical care in emergencies – the Federal Center for Disaster Medicine on the basis of the National Medical and Surgical Center named after N.I. Pirogov of the Ministry of Health of Russia.

– For a long time, specialists of the Federal Center for Disaster Medicine have been conducting international training and command-staff exercises with participation of the CIS representatives, – said the Minister.
