Today clinician needs to be able to use thousands of different diagnostic and therapeutic techniques, medicines and much more to determine correct treatment tactics for a patient. At the same time, it is always necessary to take into account a variety of factors: indications and contraindications of treatment method or technique, the patient's peculiarities and disease course, compatibility or strengthening of the effect of certain examination methods or medicines on each other, individual drug intolerance in the patient, contraindications and much more.
Digital technologies introduction into practical healthcare is one of the most important factors in improving the quality and availability of health care. Application of artificial intelligence technologies and decision-making support system is a challenging but highly relevant task in this direction. Many digital solutions are already being actively used in the Russian Federation and in the CIS member states.
As Mikhail Murashko, Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, noted in his speech at the III Forum of Patient-Oriented Innovations “Patient Community for New Medicine: The key current trend is social orientation”. It is important to establish short communications between a patient and medical community. And this is possible thanks to digital technologies development. Today, telemedicine consultations and remote prescriptions are being introduced in many regions. A patient is involved in treatment process, for example, can track up-to-date information, and using a QR-code on drug package, can find the latest instructions on its medical use. A new project “Personal Medical Assistants” is being developed, which is a priority today and allows the use of remote communication formats with the patient”.
In 2023, RIH held a series of free webinars on the topic “Decision-making Support System in Healthcare”. Within the frames of online seminars, modern ideas about management, clinical and patient decision-making support systems in healthcare, their features, application possibilities and difficulties in implementation in practical healthcare were discussed.
The speakers of the events were experts from the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States, RIH employees, as well as representatives of regional health ministries, MHIF, MIAC and companies developing digital solutions for healthcare.
